Fines and responsibilities
Overdue charges: Nu. 25 per book per day for students; Nu. 50 per book per day for faculty and staff.
Payment: fines are paid to the Finance (Accounts) Division within thirty working days, and the receipt is shown to the Library the same day. Accounts are suspended after sixty days until all dues are cleared.
Lost items: replaced at twice the original price, or with a copy of the same title and the same or a later edition plus a processing fee of Nu. 50.
Damaged items: repaired or replaced at the borrower’s cost.
Security deposit: a refundable deposit of Nu. 1,000. Unpaid fines may be deducted where no appeal has been made.
Clearance: all dues must be cleared before graduation, resignation or the end of employment, and before a no-due certificate is issued.
Appeals: appeal in writing to the Associate Dean, RALS within fourteen working days, and further to the Library Committee within ten working days of that decision. The Library Committee’s decision is final.
Inter-library loans and resource referrals
If the material you need is not held by JSW Law, the Library can arrange access through other libraries in Bhutan and abroad, and through the networks of partner institutions. Tell us the full details of the item and the date by which you need it, and library staff will advise on the best route, the expected time and any conditions set by the lending library.

Study spaces and room reservations
The Library offers quiet individual study areas, group study rooms for collaborative work and an audiovisual laboratory. Group study rooms may be reserved by JSW Law students, faculty and staff for academic work such as group assignments, moot preparation, research team meetings and editorial board work.
How to book: use the online reservation form or ask at the circulation desk. Your booking is confirmed by email.
Priority: academic group work takes priority. Please book only the time you need and cancel promptly if your plans change, so that others can use the room.
Arriving late: rooms not occupied within fifteen minutes of the start of a booking may be released to other users.
Room etiquette: leave the room tidy, keep noise within the room, and report any faulty equipment to library staff.
Audiovisual laboratory: available for teaching, recording and approved research activities by arrangement with library staff.
Other services
New arrivals: regular notices of newly acquired books, journals and other materials.
Book purchase requests: faculty, students and departments may recommend books, databases and other resources on the Book Purchase Requisition Form when the Library calls for requisitions each year, or at other times for urgent needs.
Donations: gifts of books and materials are accepted where they fit the collection principles.
Photocopying, printing and scanning: in line with copyright law.
Service charter and feedback
The Library publishes a service charter setting out the standards users can expect, and runs a user survey twice a year. Survey results guide improvements to collections, services and spaces, and the Library reports each year on what it has changed in response.
