Academic integrity
JSW Law expects every researcher, student and author to meet the highest standards of academic honesty. The following standards apply to all work supported, published or deposited by RALS.
- Citation: OSCOLA, under the JSW Law OSCOLA Citation Style Guide 2026, is the citation standard of JSW Law.
- Plagiarism: quotation, paraphrase and the use of others’ ideas must always be acknowledged. Writing-integrity support is available to new students from their first semester through the Research Service Centre.
- Responsible use of AI: under chapter 7 of the Citation Style Guide, read with the JSW Law AI Policy, AI output must be verified against original sources, its use must be disclosed, and it is treated as a secondary source at most, never as a primary source of law.
- Research ethics: all research involving human participants requires ethical clearance from the RERC before data collection begins.
- Authorship: authorship criteria ensure fair credit and prevent ghost or honorary authorship; collaborative work keeps contribution logs.
- Retraction and violations: works found to breach academic integrity are reviewed under the retraction procedure, and breaches of research ethics are handled under a progressive framework with due process and a right of appeal to the Office of the Vice Dean within fourteen days.
- Conflicts of interest: funding and interests are disclosed in all research, with safeguards for academic independence in funded and commissioned work.
